- [Maxime Brygo](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/maxime-brygo/): Maxime Brygo is a photographer who lives and works between Lille (France) and Brussels (Belgium). His work explores relationships between territories, architectures, landscapes, and ways of inhabiting, often focusing on marginal, transitional, or peripheral spaces. Through long-term projects, Brygo combines documentary approaches with fictional and narrative elements, questioning how histories, myths, and power structures are inscribed in places. Since 2009, his work has been widely exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in France and internationally, including at Les Chiroux in Liège, Contretype in Brussels, the Institut Français in Ho Chi Minh City, the Rencontres d’Arles, the Busan International Photography Festival, and numerous museums and cultural institutions across Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. His projects Pavillons et totems, Flatland, Lignes de flottaison, and Éthers mark key stages of his artistic research. His work has been published in monographs, notably Flatland (Éditions Loco, 2023) and Lignes de flottaison (2021), and featured in major publications such as reGeneration2: Photographers of Tomorrow (Thames & Hudson / Aperture). He has received numerous awards and grants, including support from the CNAP, DRAC Hauts-de-France, the Région Hauts-de-France, and several photography prizes in France and Belgium. Brygo has taken part in many artist residencies, notably in Vietnam, La Réunion, Belgium, and France, and has been engaged in long-term collaborative research projects, including a duo residency with artist Ciel Grommen at the Stellantis factory in Valenciennes. Alongside his artistic practice, he is actively involved in education and transmission through teaching, workshops, and residencies linked to cultural and educational programs. His work has been the subject of critical texts and reviews in art and photography journals in France and abroad.
- [Allie Tsubota](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/allie-tsubota/): Allie Tsubota is an artist and educator whose work explores intersections of race, visuality, and the formation of historical memory. Working across photography, video, archival materials, and text, she examines how images circulate through racialized space and collapsed historical time, and how visual spectatorship shapes collective and personal understanding of history. Tsubota holds an MFA in Photography from the Rhode Island School of Design and is currently Assistant Professor of Photography and Associate Director of the BFA Photography program at Parsons School of Design, The New School, in New York. - [Terry A. Ratzlaff](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/terry-ratzlaff/): Terry A. Ratzlaff is an artist whose work explores the relationship between time, vision, and modernity. His long-standing fascination with trains and time, and the point at which these forces intersect, shapes his current artistic research. Working primarily with photography and books, Ratzlaff examines how modern ideas of time, history, and technological progress are imposed on the human experience, and how these systems continually shape perception and consciousness. Ratzlaff lives and works in Lincoln, Nebraska, where he runs The Basement Window, a small imprint dedicated to producing small-edition artist books and boxed works. His practice places strong emphasis on materiality, sequencing, and the book as an object, extending his photographic work into tactile, time-based forms. He received his MFA from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and is currently an Assistant Professor of Art at Nebraska Wesleyan University. Alongside his academic and artistic practice, Ratzlaff has worked with a wide range of national and international publications. His work has appeared in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, NPR, Bloomberg Businessweek, FT Weekend, Vanity Fair, Der Spiegel, VICE, Inc. Magazine, ESPN, 5280 Magazine, Newsweek, and The Financial Times, among others.
- [Ruben Lundgren](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/ruben-lundgren/): Ruben Lundgren is a photographer and curator who was based in Beijing for more than 20 years. Since 2025 he is back in the Netherlands. He is renowned for his work within the conceptual photography duo WassinkLundgren and gained significant attention with publications such as Empty Bottles (2007) and Tokyo Tokyo (2010). Lundgren completed a master's degree in photography at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing in 2011. His relocation to China has profoundly influenced his career, leading him to engage deeply with Chinese contemporary photography. He currently works as a curator for the Nederlands Fotomuseum in Rotterdam. He used to work as a photojournalist for Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant and as an independent curator of Chinese photography. Together with Martin Parr he co-edited The Chinese Photobook (2015). Other publications include Hlleo? (2018) and MeNu (2018) a tasty collection of Chinese vernacular food photography. As a guest curator of BredaPhoto 2020 he curated China Imagined offering 24 contemporary photography projects from China including the sticker album Wow Taobao. In 2021 he edited the book Ellen Thorbecke: From Peking to Paris, and published Real Dreams with his journalistic works made all over China. In recent years he focusses on vernacular photography resulting in the book Dream Machine (2023) and Wildman Fever(2024). His photographs and books are collected by various private and public collections and have also been exhibited at international galleries and museums including FOAM photography museum (Amsterdam), The Archive of Modern Conflict (London) and Ullens Centre for Contemporary Art (Beijing).
- [Marcin Piekałkiewicz](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/marcin-piekalkiewicz/): Marcin Piekałkiewicz is a research-based photographer living and working in the Netherlands. Growing up in Poland during the economic transition of the 1990s, he witnessed firsthand the social consequences of neoliberal reforms. This experience sparked a lasting interest in the economic forces that shape everyday life and led him to explore how abstract capitalist systems become visible in material, lived realities. His artistic practice focuses on unpacking the complex structures of neoliberal capitalism, with particular attention to its social and environmental impacts. His work examines how economic power shapes landscapes, built environments, and social conditions, revealing the often-overlooked material consequences of financial and political decision-making. Built on Sand has been exhibited internationally, including at Copeland Gallery in London, IFAC Athina in Athens, and multiple venues in Poland, as well as reaching audiences in Malta. The project has also contributed to public debate through national media coverage and to academic discourse through publications in peer-reviewed journals such as Photographies and Sophia Journal, as well as presentations at international conferences. Piekałkiewicz has an extensive academic background in the socio-economic study of wellbeing and quality of life, with research published in journals including PLOS One and the Journal of Happiness Studies. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Siena and an MA in Documentary Photography from the University of South Wales. This interdisciplinary background allows him to critically connect economic theory with lived human experience, challenging dominant narratives of progress within contemporary capitalism.
- [Michelle Piergoelam](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/michelle-piergoelam/): Michelle Piergoelam is a visual artist and photographer who creates visual narratives around overlooked stories, cultural mythologies and collective memory. Based on in-depth research into oral traditions, rituals, secret languages, botanical knowledge and material culture, she develops a poetic visual language in which hidden narratives become visible. Her work focuses in particular on Surinamese heritage and the legacy of transatlantic slavery. Together with Jane Stjeward-Schubert and Ella Broek, she founded the Tailors & Wearers Foundation, which explores Afro-Surinamese traditional dress from a craft, anthropological and photographic perspective. Her artist books Songs In A Strange Land (2023), Maktub (2022), The Untangled Tales (2020) and I Heard Water Holds A Secret (2019) received national and international attention and were shortlisted for various awards, including the Kassel Dummy Award Shortlist. Piergoelam was selected for FUTURES (2023) and was awarded the Zilveren Camera (storytelling, 2nd prize), among other prizes. She has had solo exhibitions at Naturalis (2025), Verwey Museum Haarlem (2024), ROOF-A (2024) and Mino Art Space Antwerp (2023). Her work has also been shown in international group exhibitions such as UNFAIR, Noorderlicht Fotofestival, EARTH (AkzoNobel Art Foundation), UNSEEN, FOTODOK, Atelier Néerlandais (Paris), Art Rotterdam, Exposure Festival (Canada) and the Kassel Dummy Award World Tour. Piergoelam's work has appeared in numerous publications, including NRC, PF Magazine, DIGIFOTO PRO, Trigger FOMU and De Correspondent. She has been a guest on various talks and interviews, including FOTODOK Book Club, Books on Tour Suriname, Melkweg Marathon and the CAMERANU podcast. Piergoelam studied Photography at the Royal Academy of Art (KABK) in The Hague and at the Fotovakschool Rotterdam. Her work is represented by ROOF-A Gallery and is included in the collections of the AkzoNobel Art Foundation and the Heden Collection.
- [Sabina Timmermans](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/sabina-timmermans/): Sabina Timmermans is a Dutch visual artist whose drawings, paintings, and spatial installations explore the complex ways we perceive, experience, and represent nature. Her works emerge from prolonged, sensory engagement with landscapes: she spends time on location, recording observations through photographs, sketches, and notes, which she later translates in her studio into layered, meditative images. By abstracting natural forms into sculptural, bodily presences, her works suggest living beings rather than static scenery, blurring boundaries between landscape and organism. Timmermans often develops projects over years, creating series that reflect both physical encounters and inner responses to place. Artist residencies form a key part of her practice, including at NKD in Norway (2024), Van Gogh AiR in Zundert (2021), EKWC (2020), and Künstlerhaus Bethanien in Berlin (2015–2016). Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including at the Noordbrabants Museum, Vincent van GoghHuis, and Museum De Pont, and is held in several public collections.
- [Catherine Lemblé](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/catherine-lemble/): Catherine Lemblé is a Belgian photographer based in Brussels. She received her MA in photography from Luca School of Arts Brussels. Her work has been exhibited at FOMU (Antwerp), De Brakke Grond (Amsterdam), Contretype (Brussels), Musée de la Photographie (Charleroi) and Helsinki Photo Festival, amongst others. She was selected for .tiff (FOMU, Antwerp) and FUTURES (European Photography Platform) in 2024. Her photographs have been featured in publications such as Stern (DE), De Standaard (BE), Les Others (FR) and Frankfurter Allgemeine Quarterly (DE). She self-published her first book, Cabin Fever, in 2019. Her analog medium and large format pictures examine the ever-changing relationship between humans and the more-than-human world. Only Barely Still is her second photobook. The book challenges conventional ideas about the Arctic and highlights the underrepresented presence of women in Svalbard. It explores the relationship between women and nature, and the role language plays in shaping our perception of the environment.
- [Todd Stewart](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/todd-stewart/): Todd Stewart is a photographer, visual artist, and educator whose work investigates the layered narratives of landscapes in the American West. For more than two decades, he has explored the deserts of California, Nevada, Utah, and Arizona, attending to the visible and invisible traces that culture, conflict, and time inscribe on land. Stewart's photography is rooted in the belief that landscape is both index and construct—bearing the marks of historical events, human intervention, and ecological transformation. His previous books include Placing Memory: A Photographic Exploration of Japanese American Internment (University of Oklahoma Press, 2008) and Picher, Oklahoma: Catastrophe, Memory, and Trauma (with Alison Fields, University of Oklahoma Press, 2016). In these works, as in The Course of Water, Stewart combines visual evidence with historical research to ask how memory, power, and myth shape our perception of place. Stewart is Professor of Art, Technology, and Culture at the University of Oklahoma’s School of Visual Arts, where he also co-directs Fieldworks, a collaborative, multidisciplinary initiative with art historian Robert Bailey. Their partnership has produced exhibitions and publications that span disciplines and media, including Fieldworks: Beyond Measure and Compendium. These projects invite viewers to read land as text and to consider the ethical and aesthetic dimensions of geography. With The Course of Water, Stewart continues this inquiry through the Owens Valley—a place where natural systems have been dramatically altered by ambition, hubris, and the long shadow of historical events. His photographs trace the intersections of landscape and memory, offering a space to reflect on how human designs leave lasting imprints on the land. Stewart’s work has been exhibited widely and is included in public and private collections across the United States.
- [Robert Bailey](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/robert-bailey/): Robert Bailey is Associate Professor of Art History and Interim Associate Director in the School of Visual Arts at the University of Oklahoma, where he researches and teaches modern and contemporary art, historiography, and museum studies. He received his B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. in the History of Art and Architecture from the University of Pittsburgh. Bailey’s research investigates how artists and scholars relate theory and practice amid social, environmental, and technological change. His books Conceptual Art after Modernism: Reconceiving Art and Art History (Routledge, 2025) and Art & Language International: Conceptual Art between Art Worlds (Duke University Press, 2016) consider intellectual and political histories of conceptualism in art and art history since the mid-twentieth century. He also edited and introduced Terry Smith’s One and Five Ideas: On Conceptual Art and Conceptualism (Duke University Press, 2017). His current projects include two forthcoming books: a monograph that develops art-historical fieldwork methods and a collaboration with photographer Todd Stewart focused on water in the Owens Valley of southeastern California. Bailey’s work integrates scholarly research with creative and public engagement, including exhibitions of his place-based writing and contributions to the Black Artists of Oklahoma Project, a public humanities initiative supported by the Mellon Foundation, the National Archives, and the Oklahoma Arts Council that documents the legacies of African American artists from Oklahoma and will culminate in a digital edition. Recently, he has incorporated environmental field recording and signal processing into his fieldwork practice and begun new research on political uses of recorded media by Native American artists and musicians working with sound.
- [Miguel Proença](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/miguel-proenca/): Miguel Proença is a Portuguese photographer whose work explores identity, memory, and place, often reconsidering dominant narratives through a documentary approach. He draws on both personal and collective histories to question how places are represented and remembered, combining rigorous research with visual storytelling to create layered, reflective bodies of work. His first book, The Buzzer, was shortlisted for major photobook prizes including the MACK First Book Award, the Unseen Dummy Award, and the Fiebre Photobook Award. Proença has exhibited at The Photographers’ Gallery (London), Kubik Gallery (Porto), PhotoVogue Festival (Milan), Encontros da Imagem (Braga), and Unseen Amsterdam, among others. He earned an MA in Documentary Photography from the University of South Wales (2018) and a BA in Audiovisual Communication from the Instituto Politécnico do Porto (2011). In addition to his artistic work, Proença teaches and gives workshops, contributing to photographic education in Portugal, where he is currently based.
- [Pedro Augusto](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/pedro-augusto/): Pedro Augusto is a Portuguese sound artist and composer working across electronic and experimental music. Active since the early 2000s, he has released numerous solo and collaborative works under the aliases Ghuna X and Live Low, and regularly composes for visual and performing arts. His practice explores the intersections of sound, movement, and chance, often engaging with site-responsive processes. In recent years, Augusto has focused on sound studies, developing the archival project Found Tapes Porto, which investigates the serendipitous discovery of sound as a mode of listening and knowing. He has presented his work in exhibitions, performances, and publications, often blurring boundaries between composition, research, and archival practice. Alongside his artistic work, he is a PhD researcher and Guest Assistant at the Faculdade de Belas Artes, Universidade do Porto. Through his diverse output, Augusto examines how sound can record, shape, and reanimate our experience of place and time.
- [Aaron Rothman](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/aaron-rothman/): Aaron Rothman is an Arizona based artist who has spent the past two decades focused on the landscape of the American West. His photographs and photo-based works use various strategies of digital alteration to reflect the transformative complexities that cognition, memory, and the awareness of human impact on the natural world have on the experience of place. With images rooted in his emotional and perceptual response to specific places, he examines an individual perceptual experience of landscape, as well as how we collectively understand ourselves as a part of the natural world. Aaron is a 2023 Guggenheim Fellow in Photography. A monograph of his work, Signal Noise, was published by Radius books in 2018. Exhibitions include shows at the Cleveland Museum of Art at Transformer Station, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the University of Virginia, the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, the Cheekwood Museum of Art, and the Phoenix Art Museum. He has received grants and awards from the Speranza Foundation, the Arizona Commission on the Arts, Phoenix Art Museum, and The Print Center in Philadelphia. He has an MFA from Arizona State University and a BA from Grinnell College.
- [Oriane Thomasson](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/oriane-thomasson/): Oriane Thomasson is a French artist based in Brussels. Her first photobook, Paradis, was published by The Eriskay Connection in August 2022. Paradis was showcased at international fairs such as Unseen Amsterdam, the New York Art Book Fair, the Tokyo Art Book Fair, and Polycopies. The book was awarded among the Best Dutch Book Designs 2022 and was shortlisted for the Author Book Award at the Rencontres d’Arles, before being exhibited at the festival in 2022. The Paradis series was exhibited at the gallery Chez Olivia as part of the Photo Brussels Festival in 2024. Her work was also shown at Contretype in 2019 as part of Propositions d’artistes, and again in 2024 during the Pop Up Flash Sales. Paradis is now sold out. Through her analog and digital photographic work, Oriane Thomasson explores themes of paradise and nature, integrating archival material and drawings into her practice. The materiality of images and their transmission allows her to reflect on our visual imagination and the way it is constructed. Atlantis was the subject of a research residency at ISELP in Brussels from January to April 2025. Part of the series has also been presented at ISELP in the form of an installation during the group exhibition Réminiscences, from April to June 2025. Oriane Thomasson studied at ERG (École de Recherche Graphique) and in 2019, upon completing her studies, she was awarded the Roger de Conynck Prize, which honors “a talented young photographer.”
- [Lars Duchateau](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/lars-duchateau/): Lars Duchateau (1997) is an artist who mainly works with photography. By applying a wide variety of contemporary strategies. His photos are an investigation into representations of seemingly concrete ages. By studying sign processes, signification and communication, he makes work that generates diverse meanings and associations. Space becomes time and language becomes image. His works are characterised by the use of everyday events in an atmosphere in which recognition plays an important role. By taking daily life as subject matter, he plays with the idea of the mortality of an artwork. His works question the conditions of an image in the context of contemporary visual culture in which images, representations and ideas normally function. He makes work that deals with the documentation of events and the question of how they can be presented. He is interested in the long-term effect of things.
- [Ron Dirven](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/ron-dirven/): Ron Dirven (1962) studied journalism in Utrecht, art history at KU Nijmegen and painting at Breda’s Sint Joost art academy. He is director-curator of the Vincent van GoghHuis in Zundert, guest curator of Stedelijk Museum Breda and author of Vincent van Gogh: Lost and Found, Painters of Dongen and The Sower, Vincent van Gogh in Etten, among others. During his studies at Sint Joost he was mainly concerned with the self-portrait. Afterwards he worked as a curator, first at Breda’s Museum and then at the Vincent van GoghHuis, he continued to paint in the lee of these activities. For years he made studies of nature. He never showed them in exhibitions. Hundreds of works on paper thus accumulated in his studio. Only after years does he publish a selection of his works.
- [Yan Wang Preston](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/yan-wang-preston/): Yan Wang Preston is a Chinese British visual artist interested in landscape representation, identity, migration, and the environment. Her other projects include Mother River (Berlin: Hatje Cantz, 2018), Forest (Berlin: Hatje Cantz, 2018) and Three Easier Pieces (2021-ongoing). Yan Wang Preston’s work is critically acclaimed. In 2023 she was the recipient for the inaugural Royal Photographic Society Award for Environmental Responsibility. In 2019 she won the 1st Prize in Professional Landscape, Sony World Photography Awards. Her work has been presented in solo and group exhibitions at prestigious venues including the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, UK; Victoria and Albert Museum, London, UK; Messums London; Gallery of Photography Ireland, Dublin; Three Gorges Museum, Chongqing, China and the 56th Venice Biennale. Wang Preston holds a PhD in Photography and a BSc in Clinical Medicine. She lectures at the University of Huddersfield. Her UK print sales is represented by Messums London.
- [Bas Ketelaars](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/bas-ketelaars/): In 2009, Bas Ketelaars graduated from the Master of Fine Arts at Sint Lucas Antwerp with honours. Since then he focuses mainly on drawing and (analogue) photography around the theme of nature. Nature as a place, as an all-encompassing system or as an ideal we carry within us. Ketelaars’ art practice consists of a combination of studio work, exhibitions and residencies. Residencies are an important part of his practice as a starting point for creating new work and for reflection. He participated in residencies and exhibitions in Germany, Finland, Norway, Poland, Lithuania, France, Belgium and the Netherlands. In 2013, he co-founded the nomadic artist initiative Wo Meine Sonne Scheint in Rotterdam with Beatrijs Dikker, with the aim of supporting artists in making and showing their work.
- [Sven Gerhardt](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/sven-gerhardt/): Sven Gerhardt (1986) lives and works as a graphic designer in the Netherlands. During his graduation year at the Utrecht School of Arts in 2009 he co-founded design studio HOAX which specialises in branding, storytelling and campaigning for organisations and initiatives in the arts and culture sector. As an autonomous designer, Gerhardt focuses on reinterpreting and republishing existing archives and collections. He breathes new life into obscure and forgotten sources of information and inspiration about art and cultural history. In the project Ik ben bezig met mijn handen, en ik denk (2023), Gerhardt dug into the life and oeuvre of artist Joop Kruip. In the ongoing project Archives Tirages (2025), he examines the legacy of the coal industry in Wallonia, documenting how this desolate landscape has become a playground for graffiti artists.
- [Arturo Soto](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/arturo-soto/): Arturo Soto is a Mexican photographer and writer living in Los Angeles. Soto holds a PhD in Fine Art from the University of Oxford, and graduate degrees from the School of Visual Arts and University College London. He curated the exhibition Foreign Correspondence at the Architectural Association and participated in the first edition of Forecast Platform at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt. His work has been exhibited internationally and is included in the books Imaginaria and the Subjective Atlas of Mexico. Soto’s critical writing has been published in VII Insider, C4 Journal, and Photo-Eye, among other places.
- [Daan Paans](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/daan-paans/): Daan Paans (1985) studied photography at the St. Joost Academy in Breda. In his artistic practice, he studies processes of imaging that have developed throughout history in an original way, in order to gain insight into how our view of the world has been shaped and formed. His research into these cultural evolutions gives us insight into possible original ideas of being human and the relationship we have with ecology. His projects require long-term artistic research, with the end result varying in different media. His work has been exhibited in FOAM Amsterdam, FOAM talent in New York and London, the Müncher Stadtmuseum, Museum Belvedere Heerenveen and Museum CODA Apeldoorn, among others. After Letters from Utopia (2013), Floating Signifiers (2025) is Paans’ second book to be published by The Eriskay Connection.
- [Xiaoxiao Xu](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/xiaoxiao-xu/): Xiaoxiao Xu (1984), born in Qingtian in southeastern China, moved to the Netherlands during her teenage years. This transition and living half of her life amid a different culture has broadened her perspective. Her photography, which navigates the delicate line between documentary and autonomous work, reflects her dual perspective as both insider and outsider. Xu graduated cum laude from the Photo Academy Amsterdam and has since exhibited her work internationally in museums and festivals, with exhibitions at venues such as the Times Museum in Guangzhou, the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, and the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Museum in Switzerland. Xu has been recognized with numerous awards and nominations, including the Lucie Photo Book Prize and the Jimei × Arles Women Photographers Award. Her books have received critical acclaim, with Shooting the Tiger being honored among the Best Dutch Book Designs in 2023, and Aeronautics in the Backyard selected as one of the best photo books by De Volkskrant and The Guardian.
- [Ringel Goslinga](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/ringel-goslinga/): Ringel Goslinga (1969) lives and works as an independent portrait photographer in Amsterdam. Immediately after graduating from the Fotoacademie Amsterdam, he started working as an assistant to Koos Breukel. From 2002 to 2009 he assisted with photography, developed different film formats, and made analogue prints. From 2004 Goslinga worked in this darkroom parallel to his Family Tree project. In recent years, Goslinga has worked on several series and books. He became known for his weekly close-up portraits in NRC Weekend and later in Trouw. His series Family Tree was shown at Foam, and Circling Around To Sang at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. For the project The New Suez Canal (Bas Vroege, Paradox), Goslinga travelled to Egypt with photographer Luuk Kramer and made a series of portraits of people working on the expansion of the Suez Canal.
- [Hyung-Geun Park](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/hyung-geun-park/): Hyung-Geun Park (1973) is a South Korean artist and photographer and graduate of Goldsmith College in London. Using photography to capture the subtle nuances of everyday life and the ephemeral qualities of the natural world, Park often reflects on the balance between untouched nature and human influence. His solo exhibitions have been featured in the New Art Gallery in Walsall, Kumho Museum of Art in Seoul, Jeju Museum of Contemporary Art, Paola Meliga Galleria d’Arte in Turin, the Gyeonggi Creation Center in Ansan, among others. His work has also been displayed in international festivals such as the Jeju Biennale, PHOTOQUAI Biennale, and Daegu Photo Biennale. Park received several awards, including the 9th Daum Prize in 2010, the Les Résidences de PHOTOQUAI in 2014, and the 12th Ilwoo Photo Award in 2022.
- [Stéphanie Roland](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/stephanie-roland/): Stéphanie Roland (1984) is a Brussels-based visual artist and filmmaker known for her distinctive work that blends documentary and fantasy. Her films and installations explore themes such as the invisible structures of the Western world, large timescales and hyper-objects, drawing inspiration from environmentalism, politics, geology, and the cosmos. Roland studied at La Cambre in Brussels and with Hito Steyerl at the UDK Berlin, and later completed a course at Le Fresnoy – Studio national des arts contemporains in France. Her work has been shown at the Venice Biennale, Centre Pompidou, Louvre, Benaki Museum, Wiels, among others. Her films, including Podesta Island and Le cercle vide, have been screened at multiple international festivals and have won awards, including the Alice Guy Prize at FID Marseille and the TËNK Award at Visions du Réel.

In his work, the landscape is an interpretive space where meaning is flexible. He approaches the world with an eye towards animistic mythmaking, intentionally unmooring the viewer to create unfamiliar realities out of the landscape. Thorman received his BFA in Photography from Tisch School of the Arts at New York University and his MFA from Arizona State University. He showcased his work at various venues, including the Contemporary Jewish Museum in San Francisco, the Center for Creative Photography in Tucson, the Sam Lee Gallery in Los Angeles, and KOIK Contemporary in Mexico City. - [Kevin Cooley](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/kevin-cooley/): Kevin Cooley (1975) is an American artist based in Los Angeles who works across photography, video, and public installations. His work explores humanity’s relationship with the five classical elements – earth, air, fire, water, and aether – using a systems-based approach to examine environmental themes and the impact of technology. He challenges viewers to reflect on the sustainability of modern living and the psychological and practical struggles associated with environmental degradation. Cooley earned his M.F.A. in Photography from the School of Visual Arts in New York. His works have been featured in solo exhibitions, including Exploded Views at Laney Contemporary in Savannah, Georgia, and Still Burning at Kopeikin Gallery in Los Angeles. His public art installations include commissions for the Shay Hotel in Culver City and the California Air Resources Board in Riverside. He has been nominated for the Prix Pictet in 2021. - [Máté Bartha](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/mate-bartha/): Máté Bartha (1987) is a Budapest-based visual artist working in the fields of photography and documentary film. He’s interested in theory fiction, dealing with philosophical topics with a playful approach that involves impersonation and world-building. In 2014, he self-published his first book of photographs, Common Nature. His series Kontakt was awarded the Louis Roederer Discovery Award at the Rencontres d’Arles International Photo Festival in 2019. Bartha’s documentary Downstream won multiple awards, including Best Student and First Film at the 2019 Verzio International Human Rights Film Festival. His latest project, Anima Mundi has been an Honourable Mention of the PhMuseum Grant Main Prize, and awarded the Jury Prize of Les Boutographies festival at Montpellier, both in 2024. - [Daniel Chatard](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/daniel-chatard/): Daniel Chatard (1996) is a German-French photographer based in Hamburg. He investigates themes revolving around power structures, collective identity, and trauma. Looking at landscapes as vessels of collective experiences and memories, he tries to develop new narratives and tell human stories in their environmental context. He holds a BA in Photojournalism and Documentary Photography from the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Hanover, and an MA in Photography & Society from the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague. He also completed an exchange semester at Tomsk State University’s Faculty of Journalism in Russia. Since 2018, Chatard has worked as a freelance photojournalist for media outlets such as Die Zeit, Der Spiegel, Washington Post, National Geographic, and Stern. Besides editorial assignments, Daniel works on long-term projects, slowly accumulating materials over time. He describes his approach as involved documentary, making his own relations to his subjects part of the work and using collaboration to create new knowledge. His work was awarded with the 2024 World Press Photo Award for Long-Term Projects and a nomination for the Prix Pictet. He was also a finalist for the Leica Oskar Barnack Award.
- [Toma Gerzha](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/toma-gerzha/): Toma Gerzha (2003) is a mixed media artist born in Moscow and currently based in Amsterdam. She is known for her photography and mixed media work, which primarily explores themes related to the Eastern European mentality, feelings of not belonging, and the perspective of being both an insider and an outsider. Her art often explores the lives of young people and the impact of political and social dynamics on their everyday experiences. Gerzha’s work has been exhibited at the Biennale de l’Image Possible, ParisPhoto, Encontros da Imagem, the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, and featured in publications such as De Volkskrant, Marie Claire Belgique, ELLE Korea, and the British Journal of Photography. Her photography captures the essence of coming-of-age moments, often depicting ‘party culture’ as a form of escapism for the youth she photographs.

Since 2014, his work has focused on found photography, exploring themes such as the relationship between ways of looking and the underlying value systems and images of man. In addition to his artistic work, Lieber has contributed to the art world as a gallery owner, publisher and board member of several foundations. He is also the author of several publications on art and organisational development.

In 2001, his talent garnered recognition when he found a place on the long list for the prestigious Prix de Rome.

Triggered by the ethical conflict around portraying and representing others, she develops collaborative approaches to create long-term projects in the intersection of art, anthropology and documentary photography, with a strong emphasis on dialogue and mutual decision-making. She has been working with females and males affected by eating disorders since 2013. Her work has been nominated and honored several times at international awards and was exhibited in museums such as the Nederlands Fotomuseum, Rotterdam, Benaki Museum, Athens and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb, as well as shown outside an art context at conferences on eating disorders or at the General Hospital in Vienna.

He taught photography at the New York Film Academy and gives workshops around the world.

Since then, she has done numerous projects as a freelance photographer in Germany and abroad and has exhibited and published widely. She has been a professor of photography at the University of Applied Sciences for Media, Communication, and Business in Berlin since 2015.
- [Angeniet Berkers](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/angeniet-berkers/): Angeniet Berkers is a socially engaged photographer based in Rotterdam, who graduated at the Royal Academy of Arts, The Hague. She has worked in mental health care for about 13 years as a sociotherapist helping veterans and refugees with complex PTSD and young people with acute psychiatric problems. As a photographer she chooses sensitive subjects and aims to depict them in an honest and a nuanced way. Her images are sensitive and melancholic, but at the same time warm and intimate. With her work she tries to get a grip on the extremities of today’s society by initiating projects that play with the viewer’s frame of reference.

- [Barbara Debeuckelaere](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/barbara-debeuckelaere/): Barbara Debeuckelaere’s visual work revolves around normalisation, capitalism, money and power and lies at the intersection of documentary and fiction, of still and moving image, of seriousness and play. It depicts real spaces with an unexpected role for emotions, poetry and unconscious drives. Debeuckelaere was previously a development worker in Suriname and a radio and TV journalist for Belgian broadcaster VRT. In 2015, she left journalism to study visual arts and work on her own projects, mainly through photography and film. She has a master’s degree in economics, in international politics, and in photography. Her work has been published in newspapers (De Standaard, Volkskrant) and exhibited (FOMU, Brakke Grond, Rivoli Brussels).

Mesić utmost pleasure in making art is being mischievous. Creating a space for herself to demonstrate the changeability of the conventions that often define our everyday experience. Transforming everyday objects and conventional settings through trickery incites the kind of engagement that is both confronting and delighting. Her photographic work and installations have been exhibited all around the world and she has been nominated and awarded for various prizes.
- [Anna Püschel](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/anna-puschel/): Multidisciplinary artist Anna Püschel (DE/FR) studied Documentary Photography at AKV St.Joost in the Netherlands before studying Fine Arts at LUCA School of Arts in Gent, Belgium, where she graduated summa cum laude in 2019 with an Encyclopedia of the Uncertain. She has since then built a career in the arts with multiple international exhibitions, among which a solo show at the Mai Manó House of Photography in 2021. Next to exhibiting, she has published two books with The Eriskay Connection and started a PhD trajectory at LUCA School of Arts in 2022. Her practice spans photography, writing, installations and performance and centers around questions of connection, presence, care and empowerment.

He has always been surrounded by his close friends and they were always on the go, they still are. Since 2016 Vancraywinkel felt the need to capture these moments analog in black- and-white. Black and white is an important aspect in his work. It’s his way of creating a filter that shields his dreamlike world from reality. The analogue process is unmissable in Vancraywinkel’s practice. It provides a quick and irreversible way to capture the moments and a slow and careful way to rediscover the images. Vancraywinkel’s work revolves around stories, intimacy and explorations. Vancraywinkel received his Master in Visual Arts – Photography from LUCA School of Arts Brussels in 2021. His work has been exhibited in various group shows such as BredaPhoto (NL), Z33 (BE), Brakke Grond (NL), FOMU (BE), PONTI Space (BE) and S.M.A.K. (BE).
- [Lynn Alleva Lilley](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/lynn-alleva-lilley/): Lynn Alleva Lilley is an American photographer born in Washington, DC and currently living in Silver Spring, MD. At the core of her photographic work is connection with place and nature. She has a particular interest in the photobook as a uniquely intimate way of presenting her photographs. Her first photobook, Tender Mint, includes photographs made in Jordan (2011-2014) which embody loss, grief, and surprising, otherworldly beauty. The photographs in her photobook, Deep Time (Spring 2019), present the mysterious life and world of the Atlantic horseshoe crab, Limulus polyphemus. Lynn began as a self-taught photographer over 25 years ago and later studied with photographer Terri Weifenbach in Maryland and Washington, D.C.

- [Stephen Cornford](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/stephen-cornford/): Stephen Cornford is a media artist concerned with the ­toxicity of consumer technologies and the role of visual culture in climate change. Much of his recent work has been made in collaboration with scientific researchers, from commercial geophysicists prospecting for technology metals in Europe, to volcanologists studying magma crystallisation with X-rays. His practice often appropriates laboratory processes or imaging instruments. In 2018 he completed a PhD affiliated to the Archaeologies of Media & Technology research group at Winchester School of Art, where he is now Senior Lecturer and programme lead for MA Fine Art.

His work centres around the dynamics of secrets, intergenerational trauma and silence. With the help of photography, video and text, he aims to resurrect the unseen, the unknown and the hidden. Now is not the right time has been shown at numerous festivals and exhibitions throughout Europe, and the dummy of the book was nominated for several awards, including the Kassel Dummy award.

His artwork explores the act of seeing through algorithmic image systems. She has worked on several projects related to the fossil fuel industry and in particular how energy production changes our landscape. His projects investigate peculiar manifestations of human-animal relationships and reflect on societal, political and economic anomalies. He mixes different media in his artistic practice and also works with spatial installations. Szalai studied photography at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in Budapest and the University of Applied Arts in Vienna, and he also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Art and Design Theory. Mostly self-taught, he prefers to work on personal long-term projects. Photography allows him to explore and document his immediate environment and communicate how it affects him; his work thus carries a visual representation of his inner emotional landscape. Marc’s practice has lately shifted from one focused on portraiture to one where the human figure itself plays a secondary role. Nevertheless memory, the impermanence and vestiges of a human presence have been recurring themes throughout his projects.
- [Bernadette Mergaerts](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/bernadette-mergaerts/): Bernadette Mergaerts is a Belgian photographer/geographer who successively worked at Apple Computer, at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and as the personal photographer and chief of protocol of former Belgian Prime Minister Elio Di Rupo. She is based in Brussels but works half of her time in Greece, Spain and France. Mergaerts combines commissioned visual communication projects with her activities as a visual artist and her work as lecturer. She loves to create in close collaboration with writers, musicians and dancers. She is a ‘walker’ and avoids using cars. Mergaerts exhibited her work in Brussels, Paris, Corfu, Palma de Mallorca, Paxos, Roubaix and Montreuil, and was part of a group exhibition in Arles in 2019.
- [Sander van Wettum](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/sander-van-wettum/): Sander van Wettum is a Dutch photographer who’s work deals with the experience of abstraction and alienation in the everyday built environment. He seeks urban places with no apparent relationship to their environment or history. He’s interested in the moment when the intended use context disappears, giving rise to an absurd new reality. Office parks after hours, new housing developments without inhabitants, or desolate beach resorts in winter. They are constructed environments that hold a certain optimistic promise, while they can also be seen as failed and depressing. Van Wettum shoots with an analogue medium-format camera.
- [Vaste Programme](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/vaste-programme/): Vaste Programme is the pseudonym of the young artistic trio from Rome consisting of Giulia Vigna, Leonardo Magrelli and Alessandro Tini. Their practice focuses on post-photography and new media, aiming to shine a light on everyday visual matter and to reveal new meanings by appropriating this imagery as storytellers. The Long Way Home of Ivan Putnik, Truck Driver is their first published photo book.
- [Jana Hartmann](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/jana-hartmann/): Jana Hartmann lives and works in Frankfurt am Main. She was trained in visual arts as a visiting student of the Master of Arts program at Cranbrook Art Academy in Bloomfield. In 2017 she received a scholarship from the Istituto Europeo di Design in Madrid. Hartmann’s work is inspired by contemporary scientific and philosophical questions, and focuses on exploring the relationship between human and nature. Since 2012 Hartmann’s work has been shown in numerous international art shows. Mastering the Elements is Hartmann’s first published photo book.
- [Mathias de Lattre](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/mathias-de-lattre/): Mathias de Lattre lives and works in Paris. As the valedictorian graduate from the Icart-Photo school in 2012, he started his career making portraits for the press. He then gradually shifted to still life, especially for the luxury industry, and teaches photography at various American universities. His personal portraiture and landscape projects have been exhibited in Paris and Brussels and his work published in numerous magazines. Mother’s Therapy is de Lattre’s first published photo book.
- [Danielle Lemaire](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/danielle-lemaire/): Danielle Lemaire creates drawings, paintings, photos, films, sound pieces, performances and installations. She also publishes books and releases vinyl records and CDs on her own label Inner Landscapes. Regardless of the medium, her work is created in a concentrated, sensitive and organic way, where the investment of time plays an important role. Lemaire delves into the history of a unique house, landscape or person; in her work the spirit of these entities becomes tangible. Her drawings are often composed of natural forms and lines and suggest a longing for a parallel world, which feels unknown and safe at the same time. In 2018 she started an in-depth study into musician Nick Drake. In 2020, the project consists of an extensive archive, a series of drawings and multiple autonomous works.
- [Thorsten Baensch](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/thorsten-baensch/): Thorsten Baensch is trained as a bookseller and book manufacturer in Hamburg, Cologne, Munich and New York. He studied painting in Brussels and Milan. Since 1995 he has published over 80 artist’s books and editions with his publishing project Bartleby & Co. He teaches book design at the Arts² College in Mons (BE) and regularly gives courses at art colleges, for example in Arles, Bremen, Brussels and Liège.
- [Norbert Schöbel](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/norbert-schobel/): Norbert Schöbel studied political science and business administration in Munich and in Aix-en-Provence. In 1990, he went to Brussels and worked for the European Parliament, the Representation of the Land of Rhineland-Palatinate and the European Committee of the Regions. Since 2002, he has worked for the European Commission in various capacities and has been working for European cooperation in the field of vocational education and training since 2014.
- [Heleen Peeters](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/heleen-peeters/): Heleen Peeters studied photography at the London College of Communication in the United Kingdom; afterwards she obtained a master’s degree in media sciences from Leiden University in the Netherlands. Her work focuses on narrative photography. She does not see photography as an unambiguous window on reality, but as a reality with interpretation. In projects she therefore often combines her voice as an author with multiple perspectives – that of the subject, the public media or other artists – and allows them to react to each other. Editing and processing all these materials creates a new fictitious space for imagination. Peeters draws inspiration from her fascination for existentialism – themes such as the right to exist and transience are the common thread through her series. She sees photography as the medium of choice to explore these topics: it creates permanent documents that show a world in constant change.
- [Wiosna van Bon](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/wiosna-van-bon/): Wiosna van Bon is a half Polish, half Dutch photographer who graduated as a documentary photographer at the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague. She grew up around socialistic and activist ideals and this has influenced her work. The human being is always in the centre of her projects. She is interested in the lonely individual, separated groups and inequality – specifically in those who, despite everything, preserve. Van Bon treats her photos like poems in which rhythm, metaphors and symbolism are key factors. Currently, she is working as a freelance photographer, both on self-initiated and commissioned projects.
- [Claudia den Boer](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/claudia-den-boer/): Claudia den Boer graduated in 2008 from the art academy St. Joost in the photography department. Photography is a way for Den Boer to discover how she relates to places and spaces. Sometimes she comes across these places in daily life, other times she consciously searches for a specific place, area or landscape. Den Boer says about this: “place as a phenomenon fascinates me because it is omnipresent, we move through places at any time of the day, it is what we see around us, it is where we meet, it is as it were scenery where our lives play out, and I believe that places have a great influence on our state of mind.”
- [Valeria Cherchi](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/valeria-cherchi/): Valeria Cherchi, born and raised in Sardinia, is an artist working with images and text. Her work over the past years has been themed around the meaning of the ‘unspoken’ within different social issues. She is interested in telling tangible character-driven stories driven by the need of exploring personal memories and history. In her most recent project Some of You Killed Luisa, she examines small Sardinian communities as an example of a civil context that has opted to shape its social structure by choosing omerta. In 2018 Valeria was named in British Journal of Photography’s annual ‘Ones to Watch’.
- [Oliver Leu](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/oliver-leu/): Oliver Leu studied Comparative ­Theology and Indology before turning to photography. He trained as a ­photographer at the University of Applied Sciences in Bielefeld (Germany). In his artistic practice he is concerned with questioning religion, the construction of ­history, the abuse of power and the ­consequences of colonial pasts.
- [Martin & Inge Riebeek](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/martin-inge-riebeek/): Martin Riebeek studied contemporary art at St. Joost, Breda. Inge Riebeek specialised in sculpting and ceramics at St. Joost, Breda. Martin and Inge have been working together since 2001. They created several art works in public space and started to integrate audio visual elements in their work. In this work they have always focussed on creating encounters, to connect people to one another. The seeds for the later street interview projects (Imagine Being There, The Essential) were sown in 2002, while Martin and Inge were working on a piece commissioned by a juvenile penitentiary. This installation consists of an interactive treadmill. The Riebeeks devised a route for the virtual escape that ultimately leads to the southernmost tip of Italy. Along the way to this destination, they shot film in twelve European cities. But as they filmed people without asking for their permission, they soon began to feel like voyeurs. When permission was given, the spontaneity vanished. So they decided to engage passers-by in the conversation by asking them “What is your dream? What does your paradise look like?” In the end these encounters became the sole purpose for the artist couple.
- [Yining He](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/yining-he/): Curator and writer Yining He graduated from the London College of Communication. For over a decade she has been working independently specialising in photographic and visual art. Her practice is principally focused on the way in which photography is able to freely straddle the boundaries of fine art, responding to and raising questions about contemporary, historical and social issues through interdisciplinary means. These curatorial projects have been held in museums, galleries and other institutes in both China and Europe. Among her most recognised projects are Photography in the British Classroom (2016), The Port and the Image (2017), and Abode of Anamnesis (2019).
- [Lucas Leffler](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/lucas-leffler/): Lucas Leffler is living and working in Brussels. He studied photography at the Haute École Libre in Brussels and completed the master programme at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent. His work is based on his fascination for science and history, and besides photography often develops into a variation of different expressions such as sculptures and installations. His work has been exhibited at Contretype in Brussels and Galerie Satellite in Liège. The dummy of Zilverbeek won the Dummy Award at Liège Photobook Festival and was shortlisted for the Unseen Dummy Award.
- [Karianne Bueno](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/karianne-bueno/): Karianne Bueno lives and works in Amsterdam. She graduated from the HKU University of the Arts, Utrecht and has a Masters degree in photography from St. Joost, Breda. She exhibited at a.o. New York Photo Festival, New York, Kunstverein Leverkusen, Unseen Photo Fair, Amsterdam. In her work and photo books, Karianne Bueno explores utopian places that are unaffected by the human urge for makeability. She delves into new sceneries looking for her long ago washed-out memories, dreams, book snippets and movie scenes that were concealed by her everydayness. A story gets woven whilst photographing these fragments. Her projects in Belgium and Japan resulted in the photo books Asper and Haiiro in which her excellence as an editor and storyteller stands out.
- [Robert Pufleb](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/robert-pufleb/): Robert Pufleb is a photographer, graduated in Photography/Visual Communication from the University of Wuppertal, having attended HdK Berlin as well as at USC, Los Angeles. He explores the perception of visual phenomenons emerging from everyday situations, creating an atmosphere of ambivalence, constantly challenging the secrets of the visible. His work has been shown internationally in the US, Russia, Europe and China.
- [Peter Dekens](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/peter-dekens/): Peter Dekens graduated in 2012 from the documentary photography department, St. Joost, Breda. His projects fit within a larger research domain in which Dekens is aimed at making accessible socially sensitive themes such as the social consequences of blindness, suicide and the life of a family on the periphery of society. His previous two books (Un)expected, about the grieving process of suicide relatives, and Touch, a portrait of the life of a blind boy, both received international attention and appreciation. Touch was nominated for the DutchDoc-Awards and (Un)expected was, a.o., proclaimed Photobook of the Year (PHotoEspaña), awarded at The Best Dutch Book Designs 2016 and won a Silver Medal at the Best Book Designs from all over the World in Leipzig. His latest project Shaky Ground was recently shown as a preview at BredaPhoto.
- [Martino Marangoni](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/martino-marangoni/): Martino Marangoni was born in Florence in 1950, where he currently lives. As the son of an Italian father and American mother he grew up bilingual and is of dual nationality. From 1972 he studied photography at Pratt Institute, New York, graduating in 1975. By visiting the U.S. and especially New York every year he maintained his close ties with America and in 1988 was ‘visiting professor’ at the Cooper Union. Studio Marangoni Foundation (FSM) was founded in 1991, a non-profit organisation which provides international, high quality education programs with the intention of promoting the Art of Photography. As its president Martino Marangoni plays a fundamental role as teacher and mentor for the school and its gallery. Since 1999 the foundation has been the Florence photography department of both New York University and Sarah Lawrence College Study Abroad Programs. Marangoni is a member of the International Photo Curators Association (Oracle) and since 2010 of the Society of Photographic Education in the USA. Simultaneously with his work at FSM Marangoni carries out a personal research as an artist obtaining international acclaim.
- [BredaPhoto](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/bredaphoto/): BredaPhoto is a biannual international photo festival in Breda, the Netherlands, organised since 2003. It shows the state of the art of contemporary photography based on an internationally relevant social theme. Offering a mixture of fresh talent and national and international headliners, the festival hosted photographers such as Martin Parr, Carl De Keyzer, Pieter Hugo, Bloomberg and Chanarin, Todd Hido and Yamamoto Masao in past editions.
- [Simon Brugner](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/simon-brugner/): Simon Brugner lives and works in Vienna. Brugner is interested in research-based photography projects with a strong historical background, utilizing archival material as well as contemporary photography. He is specifically ­interested in the question of how the forgotten past forms our present. He obtained a master’s ­degree in media theory from the Technical University of Vienna (thesis: “On reality in the age of digital photography”). In 2014 Brugner was ­accepted for the Anzenberger Masterclass (­Vienna; with e.g. Martin Parr, Rob Hornstra, ­Cristina de Middel) and since then selected to take part in several workshops (with Corinne Noordenbos, Lara Almárcegui, RVB Books). In 2016 he was rewarded with a scholarship for promising young artists by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Arts and Culture.
- [Natascha Libbert](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/natascha-libbert/): Natascha Libbert lives and works in Amsterdam. After several years as account manager at advertising agency FHV/BBDO, she decided to become a part-time stewardess and to study at the Royal Academy of Art (KABK), graduating in 2009. In 2014, she eventually became a full-time freelance photographer. In addition to taking commissions, Libbert also takes an investigative approach to site-specific, personal projects. Natascha Libbert was nominated for the New Photography Talent Award (ING, 2013) and the Dutch Doc Award (longlist 2010), amongst others. In addition, she received a start-stipend from the Mondriaan Fund in both 2010 and 2012. In 2009, she published her first book: Take me to the Hilton.
- [Christian van der Kooy](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/christian-van-der-kooy/): Christian van der Kooy studied at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. His work consists of documentary photography, short films and soundscapes. For the past ten years, Van der Kooy has been working on several long-term projects in Eastern Europe. Analysing and interpreting reality, by creating a new context, has become the keynote of his process. Sense of place lies at the heart of his work. He is particularly interested in the interaction of people with their surroundings, with the landscape: spaces of coexistence, where a personal history generates cultural and social transformations.
- [Nadine Schlieper](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/nadine-schlieper/): Nadine Schlieper founded her own web design company in 2013 with an associate, where she is head of art and design.
- [Barry van der Rijt](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/barry-van-der-rijt/): Barry van der Rijt is a Dutch visual artist and experimental filmmaker. He likes to play with film related matter: videotapes, codecs, pixels, screens. With the results of these experiments he creates new meanings, usually resulting in short films. His work was screened on Dutch national television, in musea, at several international festivals in Europe, and at exhibitions outside Europe.
- [Arthur Mebius](https://eriskayconnection.com/author/arthur-mebius/): Photographer Arthur Mebius studied at the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague. Besides his work for commercial advertising, he is constantly working on personal projects with a strong interest on aviation. Among the jury’s that awarded his work are AOP, ADCN, ADCE, Cannes, Epica, New York Photo Awards. Arthur Mebius lives near Amsterdam with his wife and two daughters.
